The Writing Process
Did you know Cathryn Berger Kaye’s first book was on writing? True! Word Works: Why the Alphabet is a Kids Best Friend (Little, Brown) showcased her commitment to keeping the joy of writing in young people. Cathryn always integrates writing into her work with students and teachers, whether in service learning workshops to improve reflection or her Strategies for Success programs.

As an accomplished and prolific writer, Cathryn visits schools to provide Writing Workshops or as a Visiting Author. We also have specialists in English and Common Core Standards. We bring strategies to improve writer’s voice, self-expression, research strategies, and creative expression (even within analytical essays). The result: ideas to integrate writing across the curriculum. Contact us.

Consultations OnSite
Visits to international schools are usually from two days to one week. We integrate 21st century skills and best teaching practices along with service learning, writing, engaging teaching approaches, and collaborative processes. We assist with long-term planning, systems thinking, and alignment with the school’s mission statement, such as global or international mindedness, and priorities such as interdisciplinary programming, environmental sustainability or Common Core Standards. For schools with the International Baccalaureate Programme, Cathryn Berger Kaye brings knowledge from four years of consulting with the IB to advance service learning integration in CAS, MYP and PYP. As an author, Cathryn is also available for Author’s Events and Writing Workshops.

What People are Saying . . .

And Student
Thank you once again for coming to Singapore American School to teach us about improving service and being an effective leader. I really took away so much from your workshop. Now, I have a better understanding of effective and genuine service, and have more confidence in being a leader who will actually have engaged followers. Your lessons and stories were truly inspiring (I think about them very often throughout the day). Thank you so much.–Student, Singapore American School

From the International School of Brussels, Belgium
“Cathryn Berger Kaye provided an excellent four day professional development series tailored to the needs of our organization. Cathryn’s facilitation allowed attendees to interact, and learn skills and knowledge applicable to their individual roles. Cathryn also provided one-to-one individualized coaching sessions. Since the workshop Cathryn has been available for follow-up questions, advice and support when needed. I most definitely recommend Cathryn Berger Kaye for professional development.”–Michelle Brown, CAS Coordinator and HS Science Teacher

Concordia International School, Shanghai
“Cathryn Berger Kaye is an outstanding presenter! She is highly engaging and meets the needs of her audience. CBK has a depth of knowledge we should look for in a presenter. I would gladly go to hear Cathryn again knowing that I would grow professionally. I highly recommend her to my colleagues.”–Eric Semler, Elementary School Principal, Concordia International School, Shanghai, China

The most helpful thing I learned from Cathryn Berger Kaye is the value and importance of involving students in the entire process of service, not just the action but also in the planning, research, and reflection. I would go to hear CBK again because she is enthusiastic and approachable, has many, many great ideas, and introduces invaluable resources.–Rebekah House, Kindergarten Teacher, Concordia International School, Shanghai, China

I usually judge the merit of any conference by what I can personally implement in my classroom or by connections sparked. Usually, if I find one useful nugget, one “take-away,” I am pleased. However, Cathryn Berger Kaye’s presentations exceeded my expectations and provided me a wide range of ideas and activities. She certainly raises the bar for any future conferences!–Cindy Farley, High School Humanities Teacher, Concordia International School, Shanghai, China

From South America
“I am a teacher in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I went to your keynote presentation in Lima, and it was quite inspiring. Thank you for re-energizing me in my teaching and you have given me so many new ideas to integrate into my classes. Before the conference I was getting so overworked and burned out by the demands of my job, I had lost sight of the big picture. Thank you for giving that back to me.”–Robin Glas, MS Science, Asociación Escuelas Lincoln, Buenos Aires, Argentina
